INFORMATION ABOUT EDUCATION AT THE "FIRST UKRAINIAN SCHOOL" IN POLAND IN THE NEW ACADEMIC YEAR 2022/2023

In the academic year 2022-2023 “The First Ukrainian School of the Enduring Ukraine Foundation operates in three cities in Poland: Warsaw, Krakow and Wroclaw.

Studying at the First Ukrainian School from the Unbreakable Ukraine Foundation is:
🔸 Continuous education in a familiar, rather than a foreign program, resulting in a safer environment and less stress;
🔸 Orderly study of academic subjects according to the program of the Ministry of Education and Science;
🔸 Absence of differences between programs and classes;
🔸 Better assimilation of the material, because learning is in the native language, there is no barrier;
🔸 Possibility to take preparatory courses on learning Polish;
🔸 The possibility of a smooth transition to studying at a Ukrainian school in Ukraine without the need to take additional exams and tests;
🔸 Learning the Ukrainian language, literature and history, maintaining a connection with Ukrainian identity and fostering love for the country.

About the study program at our school Standard program in accordance with basic secondary education with in-depth study of English and Polish as another foreign language. This is education according to the state standards of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. We have our own license to carry out educational activities. At the end of the school year, all children receive state-issued certificates that are accepted at any Ukrainian school. Therefore, you will not have any problems if you return to Ukraine.

Last semester, we provided 750 children with uninterrupted access to offline education and employed 65 Ukrainian teachers.

This year, we have 1500+ children studying and 180 Ukrainian teachers working for us.

Admission to the Kyiv Private Lyceum “First Ukrainian School” takes place in several stages:
The first stage is registration: https://forms.gle/mAqraUwGeTpeiBTm9 ;
The second stage is online submission of documents by mail;
The third stage is the physical submission of documents at the school.

We recommend doing the first and second stages at the same time if you want to enroll your child in school right away.

Answers to frequently asked questions:

This year, we are finishing the school year with 1550 students in our three schools, which we opened in Warsaw, Krakow and Wroclaw thanks to funding from UNICEF and Save the Children International.

What will happen in the new school year?

We continue to work and seek funding to maintain the level of support for our schools and expand the network. But let’s be honest: there are no definitive answers yet.

In the two months since the registration for 23/24 has been launched, we have already received more than 800 new unique applications for study in Warsaw, Krakow, and Wroclaw. We are also (not surprised) to receive applications for training in other cities. We are assessing the demand and considering opportunities to reach as many Ukrainian children as possible who do not have enough places in Polish schools or find it difficult to study there.

The information will appear no earlier than June-July.

Before submitting your documents, be sure to read the rules of admission on the website https://nezlamna.org/uk/informacziya-pro-navchannya-u-shkoli/ and read the pinned posts on social media. We remind you of our social networks:

To apply for the academic year 23/24, you just need to fill out application form. You will be added to the waiting list, and we will send you information about available places and the admission procedure during the summer admission campaign. That is, the questionnaire will be answered in June-July.

Students from grades 1 to 11 who are already studying with us will be automatically transferred to the next year.

We would like to remind you that the First Ukrainian School from the Unbreakable Ukraine Foundation responds to letters and writes letters, not calls.

We talk about the advantages of the Ukrainian school in Poland:

🔸 Continuous training according to the usual, not a foreign program, as a result – a safer environment and less stress;
🔸 Orderly study of academic subjects according to the program of the Ministry of Education and Science;
🔸 Absence of differences between programs and classes;
🔸 Learning the material is better, because learning is in the native language, there is no barrier;
🔸 Possibility to take preparatory courses on learning Polish;
🔸 The possibility of a smooth transition to studying at a Ukrainian school in Ukraine without the need to take additional exams and tests;
🔸 Studying the Ukrainian language, literature and history, maintaining a connection with the Ukrainian identity and fostering love for the native country.

Address of the school in Kraków: ul, Świętego Filipa 25, 31-150 Kraków.
Address of the school in Wroclaw: Aleja Wiśniowa, 1, 53-313
Address of the school in Warsaw: Al. Jerozolimskie 179, 02-222

Yes, indeed, in some schools there will be two shifts for training. This is because it is almost impossible to find a larger room that would accommodate all the children at the same time, either because of the extremely high monthly rent of the room or because of the lack of offers. We try and want to provide offline education to everyone, but we are not omnipotent. However, this is not so scary, since many schools, lyceums and gymnasiums in both Ukraine and Poland practice teaching in two shifts. It does not affect the quality of education and knowledge acquisition.

    1. Study report for the previous class;
    2. A copy of the birth certificate or ID card (if you already have one);
    3. TIN (if any);
    4. Copies of Ukrainian passports of parents (the first page and the page with registration; if divorced, the passport of one person);
    5. Polish PESEL code of parents and child (if available);
    6. Child’s foreign passport (if any);
    7. Address of residence in Poland or other proof of residence in Poland (for example, a lease agreement);
    8. Application from parents for enrollment of children named Pavlenko Olena Petrivna, director of «Kyiv private lyceum «First Ukrainian School» from the «Unbreakable Ukraine» foundation. The sample is here . The statement is written by hand;
    9. A personal file or a statement about the loss of a personal file so that we can start a new one;
    10. Medical card or certificate about the child’s health. If the child is healthy, parents can write a statement about it in an arbitrary form. If the child is exempted from physical education, please provide an affirmative document from the doctor.

Our school is provided with tablets by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). Tablets are issued for the period of study. UNICEF does everything according to the rules and is obliged to install special security software on each device. As soon as the tablets are ready, they will be delivered immediately, and we will start working with them.

Textbooks will be only for primary school. We will issue tablets to everyone else. The tablets are only for the duration of the study, after which they will have to be returned.

Parents will need to provide a document about the child’s health. This is necessary in order to properly assign physical education lessons to the child (a general group, simplified or exempt from physical education lessons) and not to harm him. And also to warn if the child has certain health problems. Parents may already have such a document in their hands.

Necessarily! We love the Polish language, we have to learn it, because we are on the territory of Poland. This is respect for the country that received us. The Polish language will be studied in depth as a second foreign language. English will also be studied in depth.

Currently, we recruit from 22 to 28 children in one class. Not more. Two parallel classes — A and B.

Unfortunately, this is not possible. If you wish to study at «The First Ukrainian School» — you must drop out of your previous school. The legislation of Ukraine guarantees a child the right to free education in one school. It is not possible to be registered at several educational institutions at the same time.

Yes, they cooperated in the previous semester. In June 2022, they signed a memorandum of cooperation. This is in order for the children to be officially enrolled in the Zaporizhzhya gymnasium and to receive test papers and report cards at the end of the year, so that there is truly continuous Ukrainian education.
If you return to your schools in Ukraine after the victory, the children will not have to take any exams.
Last semester we did not have our license yet. Now there is.
On August 24, 2022, we received our own license from the state of Ukraine to carry out educational activities at the level of full general secondary education, in the field of extracurricular education and at the level of preschool education. From now on, we are officially independent. Our activity is recognized by the Ministry of Education and Culture, we will be able to issue official documents of the state standard with wet seals of the foundation. Cooperation with the Zaporizhzhya Gymnasium will continue, but will be limited.

Yes. On August 24, 2022, we received a state license to conduct educational activities in Ukraine:

— at the level of complete general secondary education;
— at the level of preschool education
— in the field of out-of-school education;

This means that we work officially and the state and the Ministry of Education and Science recognize our school as an educational institution. We will be able to issue official documents of the state sample ourselves. Our stamps will be on them.

Olena Pavlenko became the director of our school. She has almost 20 years of teaching experience, for 10 years she headed the department of science and innovation in the Department of Education and Science of Kyiv, and for the last 6 years she headed the International Lyceum «MAUP».

Write the application as standard, in the column with information about the parents – indicate the information about the parents. But the guardian must sign at the bottom, adding the full name. In the format: Shevchenko T.G. (signature). In addition, it will be necessary to add official confirmation of guardianship to the letter: this can be a decision of a Polish court or commission.

We launch all innovations in turn. Follow our social networks and the “News” section on the website.

There will be no Polish legitimization. We are a Ukrainian school operating on the territory of Poland. We cannot issue such documents, they are only for Polish schools.

If the school is located in the very center of the city and with a convenient transport interchange, then no. Unfortunately, it is objectively impossible for everyone to get there conveniently, and the school is near your home. We have only one school each in big cities. They are absolutely free for parents, but because of this, fewer “services” are provided. However, we will try to make sure that the travel for our students is free.

Free! This school was created to provide continuous quality education to evacuated children from Ukraine. All free and with lots of freebies. Funds are provided by donors — the United Nations Children’s Fund and the Save the Children Fund. The foundation’s team are Ukrainians. The president is Victoria Gnap.

No, we are for children’s freedom of self-expression. However, we expect children to be neatly and decently dressed. Not skinny jeans, but a shirt, not sweatpants, but trousers, not sneakers, but shoes.

Yes, of course. If you want to study at the First Ukrainian School, you must drop out of the previous school. First, the legislation of Ukraine guarantees a child the right to free education in one school. It is not possible to be registered at several educational institutions at the same time.
Secondly, in Ukraine, there is a Unified Educational Register, which keeps records of enrolled students by school. It is necessary to issue the required number of educational documents (certificates of basic and complete secondary education). If it turns out that the child is enrolled in TWO educational institutions at the same time (for example, in our school in Poland and in his native Ukrainian school), then in the case of such duplication, the child will be blocked in the register and then he will not be able to receive an education document anywhere.
We will provide you with a certificate of enrollment guaranteeing a place with us and with her – you contact your previous school to withdraw.
Then, upon returning to Ukraine, it will be easy to recover in any Ukrainian school, because children will study according to the Ukrainian curriculum, all subjects are stationary, and you will not have to take any exams.

Depends on what kind of covering is on the floor in the school. If it is a carpet (as in a school in Warsaw), then yes, you have to change your shoes to maintain the required level of cleanliness. If the school does not have carpets (as in Krakow), there is no need to change shoes.

Yes, it will be. We have our own license, we will issue all official certificates. You can submit them to your native Ukrainian schools to receive a certificate of withdrawal from there. This will be after the end of the introductory campaign.

No, the program is standard. According to basic secondary education with in-depth study of English and Polish as a second foreign language.

Thank you for paying attention to our school. Поки що вакансій немає, але можемо запропонувати зареєструватися як педагог через нашу анкету. Then, in case of relevant vacancies, we will contact you. Suddenly, everything will still be relevant to you.

So far, children with special needs do not study in our school, because we do not have specialized staff and tutors, and we cannot provide such children with all the conditions they need. But we are working on it and have already taken certain steps to solve the issue, because we are convinced that all children should have equal access to education.

Let’s be honest: this is not prohibited by law, but according to the requirements of our donors, it is impossible. We are committed to donors in compliance with European practices, according to which individual gifts to teachers or any other professionals in their field are prohibited.

Therefore, in all three of our schools, parents and children are not required to bring flowers on September 1 or give money to buy curtains, there are no requirements to give a set of glasses or a vase, and it is not customary to celebrate any calendar holiday just like that.

Instead of a gift for the teacher, it is better to buy a book for the child or spend time with her 💖

The task of teachers is to teach children. And the task of our foundation is to provide conditions for education. This is our mission. Therefore, the best gift for us is a happy child who studies diligently, and whose parents help him in this.

In addition, we believe that targeted aid is the most effective. You could see for yourself if you joined the “People’s Bayraktar” campaign. Individual 20 hryvnias would not be of great importance, but collected in one place is a great power.
