At the start, the UN predicted that there would be about 4 million refugees from Ukraine. It turned out to be — twice as many. We will witness the biggest refugee crisis in EU of the century. And the largest number of them, including children, shelter — Poland.
How to provide more than half a million children in Poland with quality education?
This issue was considered today at a conference in Washington. The Brookings Institution, the organizer of the conference, welcomed to the meeting Victoria Gnap — President of the Unbreakable Ukraine Foundation. Together with other experts specializing in educational work with refugees.
The key conclusions of the conference are:
🔹 To provide a stationary educational process for children — means to return them to normal life and distract them from the horrors of war;
🔹 Psychological rehabilitation and therapy courses must be mandatory for children-refugees;
🔹 We should not forget about teachers who also need psychological support;
🔹 Teachers who work with refugee children must undergo specialized training;
🔹 World refugee organizations need to work more closely together and share experiences. And Ukraine’s state institutions need to work more closely with Polish state institutions to provide the best conditions for children’s education at the legislative level.
We invite you to watch the conference. Viewing time: 60 minutes.
