We are looking forward to our first (virtual) international student exchange – the Ukraine Youth Action Network.
MapWorks Learning is an American non-profit organization. It hosts a virtual exchange to empower the next generation of leaders to make informed choices about humanity’s complex challenges. We will conduct a virtual exchange of high school students from Warsaw with high school students from an American school in New York, Krakow – with Washington, DC, Wroclaw with Cleveland, Ohio.
Ukrainian Youth Action Network is an initiative designed to give young Ukrainians the opportunity to communicate with their peers in the USA and develop specific projects for the benefit of Ukraine. This pilot project is a joint effort between our schools, American Schools, MapWorks Learning and The Heroic Imagination Project.
The platform is similar to a social network, but private, for their own. Here, for 4 months, our 9th-10th graders will get to know their American peers and form groups. Then they will practice twice a week via video. There will be no theory – there will be discussions, joint projects, thematic weeks focused on creating values.
Children will practice leadership skills and work together on joint projects aimed at the development of Ukrainian society. Teachers will help moderate groups, encourage constructive dialogue, and help with final joint projects.
In addition, students will practice social psychology exercises. This will help develop skills to better respond to unexpected or crisis situations.
