Meet: this is Ilya! He studies in the 8th grade of our school in Wroclaw. And this is Sofia. Matthew. Mykhailo. Abigail. Iryna and Anastasia. Ilya’s six brothers and sisters, who also study at our school. And also – Stefania and Oleksandra. Twins, who are 5 each, but they are already enrolled in our school. Only little Tanya does not belong to the “Unbreakable” school: she is four – too young.
…On February 23, ten of these brothers and sisters will come home from school for the last time and go to their rooms after dinner. From the next day, buyers will be without electricity. They will sleep by candlelight – either in the kitchen, or at ten – just to be together. In a week, they will close the doors of their house and go to Poland. And it’s a miracle that the bomb didn’t hit their house…
The village of Iliya, 30 kilometers from Belgorod, was destroyed. Neighboring houses were bombed. The remaining people have been living here without electricity or gas for eight months. This is a war zone, so the networks are completely destroyed.
It’s hard for the family, but they still get to Wrocław, where the children go crazy in the apartment on the 5th floor. No running, no chopping wood. EVERYTHING IS STRANGE and completely incomprehensible. Mom calls Ukraine and learns that their school also did not survive. There is no possibility to conduct online training. The children’s personal files have not been preserved.
Perplexity. Helplessness. A Polish school would deepen the crisis of children even more.
“May God bless everyone who organizes a Ukrainian school in Poland,” Ilya Iryna’s mother never gets tired of repeating. — “Teachers are in their place. Psychological support provided to children is felt. Of course we dream of returning home! But while this is not possible, we are grateful to everyone who supports our children, giving them the opportunity to study at home.”
Every evening Ilyi, the older children and even Tatyanka pray for peace. May the Lord protect those who remain in Ukraine. And so that this evil, which they saw with their own eyes, did not go further and did not affect anyone else in life.
