Why us?
The Unbreakable Ukraine foundation aims to create Ukrainian schools in Poland for children who were forced to move to the country due to Russia’s military aggression. The project is implemented with the support of the International Charitable Foundation “Flashlights” (Ukraine), the United Nations Children’s Fund — UNICEF, and the international organization — Save the Children.
The ideolog of the project is Ukrainian Victoria Gnap
“Kyiv Private Lyceum ” First Ukrainian School” in Poland has an official license for educational activities and work in accordance with the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education of Ukraine of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
In March 2022, 760 children studied at the school and 65 female teachers evacuated from Ukraine worked.
In September 2022, we scaled up and accepted twice as many children. Currently, we have 1500 students in schools (Warsaw, Krakow, Wroclaw), 130 teachers, 1400 preschoolers in preparatory classes, and 1000 eleventh graders preparing for the external independent evaluation in 12 cities of Poland (Gdansk, Katowice, Rzeszow, Poznan, Bydgoszcz, Lublin, Łódź, Szczecin, Białystok). The school is private — but free for all Ukrainians.
Our goal is to provide quality continuous offline education to children who have been forced to leave their homeland. After all, it is for them to build the future and rebuild Ukraine after the victory! They need to learn well, think creatively, make non-standard decisions and make the impossible possible. After all, the whole world will be watching them!
Who are we?
12 million Ukrainians were forced to leave their homes due to the Russian attack and found themselves in the middle of nowhere – for an absolutely indefinite period. Most of them are mothers who primarily saved children. And they will stay with them in a foreign land until it is dangerous at home.
Poland is the closest neighbor that opened its doors to refugees from Ukraine. Therefore, a Ukrainian school in Poland is exactly where it is most needed. For both: children and adults.
The Ukrainian school in Poland is the contribution that seems to “cure” the pain of thousands of people here and now. It builds a solid foundation for the future of entire countries at the same time!
Education
Children – receive education according to their age. Not in an unfamiliar language. Not online. But in a real school with classmates and teachers who understand each other from half a word. Qualitatively. Free.
Mothers – can focus on household arrangements, finding sources of income, and be sure that their children develop. It is a sense of stability, at least in something! This is what they get and never tire of thanking for it.
Teachers from Ukraine get a job in their specialty and do not lose their qualifications. Teachers from Ukraine get a job in their specialty and do not lose their qualifications. Thousands of children, whom they teach Ukrainian history and culture, with a high probability will not assimilate and will return home after the Victory.
Teachers from Poland are freed from the need to translate for guests, fully focusing on teaching the subject according to the program. Not to mention that the students themselves receive more attention, more in-depth knowledge in their schools.
Poland’s budget saves thousands, if not millions of zlotys, freeing itself from the need to keep refugees today, tomorrow, “for life”. The burden is lifted from Polish educational institutions.
